Looking for a way for your teen to grow and experience new things in a safe environment? Have them apply to be a Bright Lights Camp Assistant!
While volunteering for one of our half- or full-day camps, your teen will find a place to belong and have fun alongside our campers. Here’s what some of last summer’s CAs said about their experience:
- “I’ve been volunteering as a Camp Assistant since the beginning of high school, and I feel that it has greatly improved my skills working with young students and helping them succeed in and out of the classroom.”
- “Being able to have the campers look up to me as a CA was super inspiring.”
- “Every teacher I’ve had the ability to help was amazing and made me feel so special! This opportunity is amazing, and I cannot wait to be back next summer!
The ideal Camp Assistant is mature and motivated, with a desire to positively impact Bright Lights campers in grades K-8. This year, we are looking for 150 people to be Camp Assistants. These volunteers support teachers during our five weeks of camps (held in June and early July), most of which are held at Roper Elementary, 2323 S. Coddington Ave.
Being a Camp Assistant allows for lots of flexibility. Most Camp Assistants volunteer for one week which works around their summer schedule. When applying, teens can indicate the week(s) they are available, as well as camps or topics that interest them.
A helpful tool for finding a possible camp match is the Bright Lights Camp Schedule, which lists camp dates, times, locations and descriptions. Watch BrightLights.org for that to be posted in early February. Then get ready to apply on March 8, 2025 to be a Camp Assistant. Before then, watch this video to see some of the fun experiences our Camp Assistants have had with Bright Lights!

We can’t wait to see you at camp this summer!
