We are thrilled to share that Bright Lights has been selected as a finalist for The Big Give — a local philanthropic initiative presented by Union Bank & Trust! UBT has pledged to donate $100,000 to 10 Lincoln nonprofits for a total giveaway of $1 million.
Our mission for the past 36 years has been to take learning beyond the classroom by providing youth in grades K-8th with unique, motivating and hands-on summer learning experiences. We do this through five weeks of summer camps held at sites around Lincoln.
Being selected for The Big Give donation would allow us to launch an outreach program that would take Bright Lights to students throughout the year, moving beyond just a summer presence in the community. Students who can’t attend a traditional Bright Lights camp could benefit from STEAM-infused activities and learning right in their own neighborhood, whether at a local festival, daycare or community partnership.
