Summer Camps Build Creativity and Confidence

by Renee Ford

We may have just turned the calendar to January, but at Bright Lights we’ve been thinking about summer for a few months already. And we’re not alone, as many families start to plan summer activities for their students during the winter months. Because we rely on creative teachers to develop and customize nearly 100 camps, our schedule isn’t available until early February. However, here are some reasons why choosing Bright Lights for a week (or more!) of activity is a good idea:

Continued Learning and Skill Development

Engaging in structured summer activities, such as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) camps, can help maintain and even advance students’ learning. Our camps emphasize hands-on activities and discovery. So, active learning continues to take place in the summer under the cover of fun experiences shared with friends, keeping minds sharp and ready for the next school year.

Enhanced Social Skills

Speaking of friends, Bright Lights camps provide an excellent environment for children to develop their social skills. They learn to interact with peers in a new setting, make new friends and work as part of a team. These social interactions are vital for developing communication skills, empathy and the ability to collaborate with others, which are essential skills for their future success.

Creativity and Imagination

Our camp curricula incorporate creative activities that might not fit into the regular school day. From art and music to coding and robotics, these activities encourage participants to think outside the box and use their imagination. Creativity is a vital skill that fosters innovation and problem-solving abilities, which are essential in our rapidly changing world.

Confidence and Independence

Trying new activities and overcoming challenges during the summer can significantly boost a child’s confidence. Whether it’s building a robot, cooking or performing in a play, each accomplishment helps build their self-esteem and independence. These experiences teach students that they can achieve their goals through hard work and perseverance.

Our schedule and camp descriptions will be posted on our website in February, so be sure to visit BrightLights.org for the latest information.
