Feeling Maycember

by Lindsey Walsh

Have you heard of it? Are you feeling it? “Maycember” is a relatively new term used to compare the busy month of May to the busy holiday season of December. The term has gained popularity on social media as parents share the sometimes overwhelming nature of the month between school end-of-year events, spring activities and graduations (just to name a few!).

My job is busy this time of year preparing for summer camps. But add to that being the mom of a high school senior and two boys who play spring sports, and I am feeling it for sure! So I am thankful for easy and efficient things I can do to support my community now and in the future—like participating in Give to Lincoln Day with an online donation to Bright Lights.

Give to Lincoln Day is a community-wide giving event that encourages you to contribute to Lincoln and Lancaster County nonprofit organizations between May 1 and May 29. Every donation made during this window makes a bigger impact because nonprofits also get a proportional share of a $650,000 challenge match fund made possible by Lincoln Community Foundation and generous sponsors.

So at whatever time of day you might be reading this, please take one minute to visit the Give to Lincoln Day site and make a donation to support my favorite local nonprofit– Bright Lights!– today. Camps, teachers, student scholarships, future community leaders… your one, simple online donation can support them all through Bright Lights. Talk about efficiency! Done and done.
