Nothing teaches better than experience. And nothing provides students with better experience for future careers than volunteering as a Bright Lights Camp Assistant!
This opportunity is open to students who have completed the eighth grade and up. All that is required for the position is the ability to attend a half-day or full-day camp (your choice!) for a week, a friendly personality and the ability to relate to Bright Lights campers in grades K-8 as they explore unique, hands-on learning opportunities.
It’s also a great chance for students to build their resumes, cultivate communication skills and log valuable service hours. And if they are thinking about a future as an educator, being a Camp Assistant is a great way to explore that career path, too!

And then apply!
Note that when students apply, they can list three camps they would most like to help with. So have them look at all the camps we are offering this summer and think about which ones match up best with their interests. Then note those on their application, as Camp Assistants will be assigned to camps based on those interests and their availability.
Here’s what a few of last year’s Camp Assistants said about their experience…
- “The admin, teachers and other Camp Assistants were always helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend being a Bright Lights Camp Assistant for anyone who enjoys volunteering with kids and having a fulfilling volunteering experience.”
- “I really enjoyed my experience at Bright Lights this week. I like being a part of the kids’ summer and hearing how this camp is the favorite part of their summer.”
- “Super fun and valuable! I looked forward to it each day.”
- “Bright Lights was a fun experience for me. I learned a lot about leadership and being a role model for younger people.”
Won’t you recommend a youth so they can have a similar experience this summer?
Be sure to have them apply early for the optimal camp match!
