The magic “Apply Now!” button has appeared on the Camp Assistant page, which means the Camp Assistant volunteer application is now open!
Even more exciting news is that volunteers can list their top three picks for camps they would like to be matched to. Eligible applicants (students currently enrolled in grades 8 and up) have more than 120 camps to choose from — ranging from Perler Bead Mania to Edible Science, Skateboarding Basics to LEGO WeDo Junior Robotics, and Happy Campers to Ocean Discovery. There truly is a camp to match any interest! Visit our camp schedule to check out camp descriptions and locations (the majority are held at Roper Elementary). When listing preferred camps, just make sure that they don’t conflict with your other summer activities and that you are at least two grades older than the campers.
Another thing to consider when applying is whether you would like to be a Classroom Camp Assistant or an Office Camp Assistant. Office assistants have less direct contact with campers and help with office tasks like attendance, copies and T-shirt distribution as well as manning a water station at breaks.
The time commitment for any CA position is flexible, with most assistants choosing to commit to just one, week-long, half-day camp. Others serve multiple weeks and add special duties like Before Care or Lunch Care. It’s up to you!
