Start Thinking Summer

by Renee Ford

Even though the calendar just turned to January, we know many families begin scheduling summer activities now, whether that be vacations, sport camps or just weekly care for their school-age child. Bright Lights summer camps can be a great fit for your K-8th grade student for a variety of reasons:

  • Our camps emphasize hands-on learning and discovery. So, active learning continues to take place in the summer under the cover of fun experiences shared with friends. We offer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) infused curriculum taught by teachers who are passionate about their topic.
  • We take safety very seriously, and because of this, we have a comprehensive safety plan in place as well as a standard response protocol for emergency situations. We review our procedures and processes each summer to ensure we’re doing all we can to keep campers safe. We’ll once again call Roper Elementary home for the summer, which means many of our protocols stay in place from year to year.
  • With our variety of camp topics, students can choose to dive further into a current interest of theirs or pursue a new passion. Our younger campers can enjoy camps that give them the opportunity for some pretend play while socializing with others, all the while engaging in collaborative learning.
  • We fit your schedule. With five weeks of camps offered, families have the option of half-day or full-day learning, depending on their needs that week. Sessions will run June 3-7, 10-11, 17-21, 24-28 and July 8-12.

Our schedule and camp descriptions will be posted on our website in February, so be sure to visit BrightLights.org for the latest information. And circle Saturday, March 2 on your calendar – registration opens online at 8 AM!  Keep an eye out for sneak peeks and new camp features in future blogs and social media posts!
