Rewarding Summer Volunteer Opportunities

by Jodi Fuson

April is National Volunteer Month and boy do we appreciate our volunteers here at Bright Lights—namely our Camp Assistants!

This group of nearly 130 volunteers is crucial to providing support to our teachers and encouragement to campers each summer. Our camps just wouldn’t be the same without them. And conversely, our CAs tell us they wouldn’t be the same without this unique volunteer experience.

They recently shared with us just some of the rewards they reaped serving as a volunteer last summer with Bright Lights:

  • “It’s a very happy and fun experience. For me, it opened the door to learning new things and meeting new people. I discovered through Bright Lights that I love to paint!”
  • “I am grateful that I got to spend my summer interacting with kids and getting to be a positive role model for them.”
  • “Working with Bright Lights was a very positive experience. I was able to learn new skills like leadership and how to be a better volunteer, [plus] it was very fun to be able to work with kids and give them a fun experience.”
  • “Being a Camp Assistant is a great way to positively impact the lives of many young and talented students! I would highly recommend any 8th – 12th grader to be a Camp Assistant at Bright Lights!”

Recruitment for these summer volunteers continues through May 2024. Apply today on our website
