Camps Open for K-2 Summer Fun

by Renee Ford

If you’re like me, a recommendation from a friend can greatly influence your decision to buy/participate/check something out. So it’s no surprise this same word-of-mouth is often what leads parents to first try a Bright Lights camp.

If you’re still on the fence about signing up your student for a camp, listen to some of these comments from friends last summer:

“The week exceeded my expectations. Thank you for putting on such a wonderful program!”

“Instructors were knowledgeable and taught both lessons for the class and for life.”

“My kids have always enjoyed Bright Lights camps and had great experiences. We appreciate the variety of camp options and dates/times.”

“Very well organized. Amazing instructors. Great communication.”

There are still many Bright Lights camps with openings, so whether you have an animal lover, an artist or an active camper, we have options for you! Here are some suggestions specifically for students currently in kindergarten, first and second grades:

June 1-5, 2026

#102 Art & Magic of Frozen (also available in the afternoon) for grades K-2: It may be hot in June, but your young camper will be happy getting a little chilly as they visit the land of Arendelle to do all things FROZEN, from crafts to science experiments to a snowy dance party.

#108 Penguin Experts for grades K-2: Everyone seems to love penguins, whether it’s because of their snazzy dressing, cute walk or fascinating habits. Students will become experts as they dive into penguin habitats, habits and hijinks!

#200 Science with Dr. Seuss for grades K-1: Dare I say, this is a camp you must try today?  Campers can be silly with traditional Seuss stories, but we pair them with STEM activities to stretch their minds and deepen their understanding of the scientific process.

June 22-26, 2026

#610 Becoming Royal (also available July 6-10) for grades K-2: Who doesn’t want to feel a little fancy now and then? Campers will step into the roles of prince or princess, learn about the history of royalty around the world and create enchanting crafts to have a royally good time.

#700 Flluffy Friends for grades K-2: This is one of our most popular camps, run by a teacher who has been with Bright Lights for 18 summers! Campers will bring their favorite stuffed friends and engage in a variety of STEAM activities, from designing homes for their furry best friends to writing stories about their amazing adventures.

July 6-10, 2026

#806 Safari Adventures for students in grades K-1: Who knew you could go on safari right here in Lincoln, Nebraska?! In this camp, students will learn about Africa and explore the amazing animals that call the savanna, desert and rainforest home. We will also explore careers that help protect the land and animals.

#810 Are You Fancy Like Nancy for grades K-2: This popular children’s book comes alive with activities to help us realize that everyone’s “fancy” can be different. Maybe you like pink or maybe you like black, but either way, students will embrace their creative sides through fashion, art and learning about each other.

#900 Bubble Festival for grades K-1: What could be better on a summer day than blowing a million bubbles with your friends? How about designing your own bubble wand and experimenting with different shapes, or investigating which solution makes the best bubbles? And the best part? The mess stays at camp!

To see our entire camp schedule, visit our website and search by week or grade to find the perfect fit for your student’s summer fun. There are still scholarships available, as well, which can be requested during the registration process.

We hope to see you at camp this summer!
